  5. oh and when duo queueing the matchmaking will set it up so you will matched with less low ranked elo players. i read a post somewhere that states the matchmaking add you and your duo queue parnter elos together or something like that which ends up if the other team does not have a duo queue your other 3 will be lower elo than the opposing team.

  6. Yeah that's what I thought and that's what I was trying to get at during the podcast

According to zileas in that post, the effect is only 10-20 elo. Which is pretty small.

  8. Donated a little to you guys for an epic podcast. Hope it helps. Also I know it's probably a commonly asked question but what's the best way to get out of ELO hell, I can play every role pretty well I tend to jungle and guide my team to better picks and bans etc. Is it better to solo or duo with a friend? Or is the match making different with duo?

    Thanks in advance, Ryan

  9. Just want to let you guys know what a stand up podcast you put out. It's the most informative with just the right touch of silliness.
    Keep up the good work.

  10. Don't forget to give Euls credit for the original DotA back in Warcraft III Reign of Chaos.

  11. @Ryan thanks so much for the donation! we'll get a bit more into "elo hell" on the next cast

@ignatz thanks for the kind words, thats directly what we're aiming for in our conversational manor

@NotAcquainted we just scratched the surface on the history of MOBA's, so we did probably leave some names out.

  12. Hey guys, thanks very much for the $10 worth of RP, so happy I won =)
So instead of spamming Autech in game I thought I'd ask you guys your opinion of these two threads and the questions i've posed regarding them, any feedback would be cool. Cheers

First off, http://www.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=958614 Changes to pantheon, my question is; What would you like to see riot do with this champ, and also what do you Expect to see happen with Panth and his ulti/skill set.

    Second thread is http://www.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=958111
Stealth remake, what are your opinions of Xypherous's ideas for the future of stealth champs and what are your views on lol without oracles etc.

    thanks again guys.
    peace

  13. Those quad and penta numbers did sound a bit suspicious.

    "junglers can carry, not really"
This one didn't really sit right with me. I would like to hear some of the reasoning behind this. I know you said the thing about enabling your team to win. Still, that does not negate the carry potential that most junglers have.

  14. It's incredible how much quality content you guys put out every week.
I hope you keep it up, I've been listening for some time now and I'd really miss you.

Overall, I really wouldn't mind if the podcast got longer xD

  15. So is Zugare just Michael Cera? Because I swear it sounds like you podcast with Michael Cera.

Also I enjoy the show, keep up the good work ^^

  16. @Yusuke I thought the same exact thing! Even if he's not, they should claim that he is so they can have a "celebrity panelist".

  20. That would probably be the first Michael Cera movie I could actually sit through. Also, get ready for a freaking long post. About jungling, and elo hell, and climbing the ladder. Disclaimer, I am only 1520 elo, with about 40-50 ranked games played, so I am in no way a total expert. However I was confused by elo hell, and how pros never got stuck in it. There had to be a way out! I always read BUY MORE WARDS and I was all, ok, I will try. I would ward my lane, and maybe river, thought I was doing fairly well at warding. Then I watched theOddOne's Trundle guide. Now that guy knows how to buy wards.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Since that video, I haven't lost a ranked game (not that I've played a ton). But it is my conclusion that you can totally carry/be the most important/absolutely be the deciding factor AS A JUNGLER. My last few games all of my lanes had decided they should lose there lane, but I decided that we should win the game. And so we did. Buying wards is so much more than warding a lane and maybe river. You ward your jungle, their jungle, buy oracles, don't die, kill their jungler with oracles. I have been able to 100% control every game, by having so many wards, and an oracle for getting rid of their wards. Basically, here is where my whole world changed. Before, I was thinking, well I could buy a ward, but I'm so close to buying X item (wriggles, sheen, trinity force, etc (I main jungle Udyr)) that I shouldn't buy a ward. However, in theOddOnes game, he got an oracle and wards before even getting wriggles. It is so important, your items dont matter at all.

    ReplyDelete
  22. If your next item is 1000g, and you have 1000g, you better freaking not buy your item. You buy about 500g worth of wards. When your whole team can see the whole map, no matter how bad they are, if they are in your elo, they will still play SO much better by that map awareness. I was down 7-14, and the other team had 3 turrets over us, and a much better team comp. My solid warding, destroying of their wards, and team corraling (push that turret, we just aced em, 2 are bot baron RIGHT NOW)allowed us to have a solid team advantage, and overcome a bad situation to win. So, here's my summary of things to do to win games and get out of elo hell: 1. In Queue, get people talking, say here is what I am playing, what are you playing, if nobody will talk say "If you guys don't talk we are likely going to lose, this is a team game". 2. Play supports and junglers. These are classes that nobody wants to play, that are most likely to not be picked if you don't play them, and have the highest skill ceiling IMO. I disagree with the sentiment on this weeks show, do NOT play only for yourself. If you play a jungler or support at max ability, and you actually deserve to, you WILL get out of elo hell, easy into ~1500, because people that deserve to be in elo hell do not know how to counter warding/oracles.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So, point 3: BUY WARDS. And I don't mean buy one ward for your lane, buy them 5-10 at a time, warding their whole jungle.
This is mainly for supports/junglers, since carrys should be buying items. But they can still afford a few. Just know this, as a jungler/support, by myself (I almost never duo queue) I can afford to buy enough wards to have their entire jungle warded the whole game, and still get enough items to be of serious use. (6/1/8 with Udyr, by the time we actually got around to fighting I got a triple kill). If, when you shop, you have to decide between buying an item and buying wards, if you are a support or jungler, buy wards. In conclusion, buying wards and oracles, and knowing how to play supports and junglers insanely well WILL get you out of elo hell. It's also freakishly rewarding, knowing that you are single handedly carrying really bad people, without necessarily a good KDA, being the biggest important factor in your teams win, even though you were the lowest elo in the queue.

TL;DR Lots of wards win games. Supports and junglers are more important than carries, almost everyone knows how to play those. Elo hell, in my humble opinion, does not exist. People stuck in ~1200 might deserve to be around ~1300, but no higher, if you can't get out, you really aren't that good. Please give me your opinions, feel free to friend me ingame (PaleAssassin) etc.

  24. Great post Shawn, and good insight into the whole "elo hell" debate. As a prominent support player I buy wards constantly and try to have oracles by level 8 or so. If the support as well as the jungler get 2-5 wards every time they B, then the map should be pretty well covered.

Monkey King AD carry! hes got clones! I called it :) i does sound like he can jungle too!!! with the clone + aoe dash attack. :) Overall im gonna get him!

    ReplyDelete
  27. He's no Phantom Lancer... Man, I wanted to fill up entire screens with clones and have clone wars against the enemy clones on release day. That would be so epic they'd be forced to make a movie about it. Maybe including a princess chained to a pillar who somehow still manages to kill alien monsters.

That being said, Monkey King looks kinda funny. Especially if I can stand on somebody with his ultimate and continually whack them into the air while my allies destroy them because the only thing more awesome than an unstoppable CC is an unstoppable CC that lasts a really long time.

  28. My first thought when I saw the video was OMFG THAT ULT IS GONNA BE OP

  29. Kudos to Hoywolf, I remember him calling that.

  30. I couldn't tell, but maybe it only knocks up each target once per ultimate. Then it'd probably be balanced. Otherwise I will have to wonder why Riot loves "Spin to win" abilities so much.

    ReplyDelete
  31. So who do you guys think are some of the better non-standard junglers? I gave Maokai a spin jungling last night and it was unexpectedly decent. Not on par with some others, but not terrible either. Have you guys tried/seen any unexpected junglers?

  32. Meow meow meow

Sup guys, great podcast once again. I got a few things to add today.

    1) first off I think it would be very helpful to add a link to the episodes page for any pages or videos you happen to mention during your show. Such as the training video link, just for those that get lost in the interwebs.

    2) secondly im going to hate on monkey king for a sec, i think his whole clone/stealth move is a rip off of shaco.... I mean they combined his ult and stealth into one move....more or less. He also has a move that sounds like jax's empower weapon but added a armor debuff on it.... And his ult come one thats like a super garren spin to win. Wish he was more creative.

    3) Question time, im starting to get into jungling more as well as tanking. Now for my fav. champ singed whst lane does he go in? Solo top? Secondly can you do a recap of the junglers and thier builds. I think alot has changed
Since the last time you guys went into it in detail....... Such as the death of nunu.....

Thx and keep it up guys, if anyone ever wants to team up feel free to add or message me.

  33. I have a question about Poppy, in what manner would you recommend building her (AD, AP, or Triforce Gunblade hybrid. Also, how viable do you feel she is in higher level play.

    ReplyDelete
  34. @Infinite caliber http://rog.clgaming.net/tier-lists/46-jungle/latest That's a pretty good overview of how junglers fair against each other with the better of the tier being at the left side of the list. Obviously that's just elementz opinion and you might not be as good with certain champions so for example you might be better at olaf, than any of the tier 1 junglers. Also AD junglers nearly always build wriggles, sometimes they might build madreds razor into the bloodrazor. After that I normally build a heart of gold then possibly an avarice blade depending on the champion to build into a youmoos ghostblade then follow that with a banshees veil. My favourite jungler is nocturne by far, I just love his ganks.
